Ed's Horses - December 2011

I am back training horses after breaking (smashing 2 bones) in my arm at the rodeo in July.  It is great to be back in the saddle again!

Bambi aka The Filly is a 2-year-old Quarterhorse filly owned by Art Harfman. He asked me to get her harness trained this spring. She arrived here on March 30, having been halter broke the day before! I put 30 days training on her, using my bay gelding Normandy as my assistant! I hope you enjoy the video.

Charlie and Thunder - April 2011

On April 8th I was at the Armstrong Horse Auction and found a beautiful Percheron stud for sale. Well, my dad has been looking for a harness mate for his horse, Sparky (see Sleigh Ride in New Denver) so I got a hold of him and he said, Go ahead, see if you can buy him ... and I did! So we got him home and I decided to see how Thunder and Charlie would get along ... and as you can see from the video they look like they are having fun! Thunder will be going to his new home (a gelding now) in New Denver on April 23rd to start his training this fall. Enjoy the video ... sorry the quality isn't better. And enjoy the music of Johnny Reid - Running Wild.

Well the harness training has been going great. It's been 3 weeks and I have had them out with both the sleigh and the wagon.
DW (the pinto) is a 2 year old and has not been trained yet for riding so the harness training has been great for him. More posts to come as I get him trained for riding this spring.
Normandy (the bay) is turning 4 this year and has turned out to be an awesome horse. I bought him at auction as a 2 year old with plans of training him and selling him ... well needless to say he won't ever be sold! His forever home is with me. Horses like Normandy are few and far between.
So I will continue with the harness training for now ... as I wait for the snow and ice to melt!

Having Fun in New Denver

Sleigh ride in New Denver. Next posts will be the training of my horses, Normandy and DW, to harness and sleigh!
